Program 1: Basic SIL & Functional Safety

Course Details:
It is our objective to give you a good introduction to  Safety Integrity Level & Functional Safety without going into too many mathematical details but with enough information for you to understand what SIL and functional safety means and how it affects your work, your products and services and your company.
After this introduction you will be knowledgeable enough to understand SIL. You will know how it affects you and in which direction you need to go to successfully implement SIL and Functional Safety in your company.
During the course, you will know the answers to the following:

  • What is SIL?
  • What does Functional Safety mean?
  • Which products / devices need to be SIL compliant?
  • What does it mean to be SIL compliant?
  • How does SIL affect my work and my company? (as a user industry, automation supplier, system integrator, EPC company, Engg consultant, Insurance company)
  • What role does certification play?
  • Can certification benefit me? Can my product be certified?
  • What are the roles/positions of TUV and the Insurance companies?
  • How do I demonstrate my competency in SIL?
  • Can we use SIL to demonstrate competitive advantage?

Eligibility: Technical Professionals with at least 6 years experience OR those with a Bachelors degree with 4 years experience OR those with a Masters Degree with 3 years experience OR those with a Doctorate and 2 years experience.
