Update: Workshop is over and was attended by professionals from a slew of different large organizations including HCL, Schneider, Yokohoma and Addverb.
Next workshop will be held on
Join us on 2nd and 3rd August 2024 in Mumbai, India for the Abhisam OT Cybersecurity Training workshop. This is the sixth time that Abhisam’s India office will be holding the workshop in the past few months.
As you probably know by now, Abhisam’s flagship course is the popular Certified Industrial Cybersecurity Professional course (CICP course) that is taken by hundreds of professionals all over the world. Additionally, Abhisam has also launched the OT Cybersecurity Awareness course recently that has quickly become popular. Both of these are self paced e-learning courses.
In addition to these Abhisam also conducts Instructor led training workshops sometimes as public workshops and sometimes for clients at their locations.
What is the OT Cybersecurity training workshop about?
This ICS/OT Cybersecurity training workshop will bring you quickly up to speed with the concepts of securing Operational Technology systems from cyber threats. Register here.
What Exercises are included in the workshop?
Contrary to popular belief, good OT cybersecurity workshops are not just hacking workshops or demos on how to hack PLC or DCS systems. If you’re looking for those, you will find plenty of videos for free online on Youtube and other places. Watching them is not going to educate you much on how to protect your plant’s or facility’s OT systems, at best they can help you learn penetration testing to some extent and understand what hackers can do once they get access to your system.
What you need to know is how to evaluate your own OT System architecture, understand and use standards like IEC 62443 and develop policies and procedures to protect your OT Systems. You also need to understand the follow on effects (consequential damages) that can occur if your system unfortunately does get hacked. This means your PHA & Risk Assessments must include these scenarios too.
Participate in the following real life exercises in the OT cybersecurity training workshop
a) Evaluate an OT system architecture to find vulnerabilities and weaknesses
b) Improve the security posture of this system
c) Develop a CSMS for your OT System
d) Carry out a risk assessment for your OT System…
and more…..
What will you learn about in the workshop?
The ot cybersecurity training workshop will cover the following topics:
1. Introduction to Operational Technology (OT) systems.
2. Differences between OT security and IT security.
3. Basic Concepts of OT security- Threats, Vulnerabilities & Attacks
4. Case Study of an OT attack
5. Evaluating OT System architectures for vulnerabilities and weaknesses
6. Introduction to CSMS
7. Overview of different standards related to OT cybersecurity
8. Introduction to IEC 62443
9. Overview of individual parts of IEC 62443
* IEC 62443-1-1
* IEC 62443-2-1
* IEC 62443-2-3
* IEC 62443-2-4
* IEC 62443-3-1
* IEC 62443-3-2
* IEC 62443-3-3
* IEC 62443-4-1
* IEC 62443-4-2
10. Carrying out an OT Security Risk Assessment
11. Q & A
What is IEC 62443?
IEC 62443 is a set of documents (standards, technical reports) that deal with OT cybersecurity. This set of documents was developed by ISA (Instrumentation Systems and Automation society) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission). Some parts have been developed by ISA and others by IEC. This is still a work in progress and many parts have not been published as of now. However, we can learn many things from the parts that have been published so far and this will be covered in the ot cybersecurity training workshop.
