Abhisam’s India office is pleased to announce that they conducted a What If training workshop for the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers Lote chapter, on 27th April 2022 at Hotel Omega, Lote, near Chiplun, India. More than 45 engineers and managers from different companies in the Lote Parshuram Industrial Area attended this hands-on workshop that covered the What-If Analysis /SWIFT technique of Risk Assessment. What-If Analysis and SWIFT (Structured What-If Analysis) technique is one of the two PHA techniques used for Risk Assessment in the process industries (the other popular technique is HAZOP-Hazard and Operability Study). The What-If technique is not as popular as HAZOP, but scores several advantages over it in certain aspects and it is being rapidly adopted by many industries.
The participants were enthusiastic chemical engineers from major chemical manufacturing companies in the region, such as Gharda Chemicals Limited, Vinati Organics Limited, SI Group, Rallis, US Vitamin and others.
The Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers is the apex professional body of chemical engineers in India. It has a membership of about fifteen thousand, including Corporate Members and Student Members. There are forty-one Regional Centres and forty-seven Student Chapters of the Institute in different parts of India. The Institute represents the chemical engineering profession in India. Many members of the Institute serve on various technical committees of the Government of India and of chemical and allied industries.
What-If analysis and SWIFT (Structured What-If Technique) are Risk Assessment methods used in carrying out PHA (Process Hazard Analysis). Other Risk Assessment methods include HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) and LOPA (Layer of Protection Analysis).
As you know, Abhisam has e-learning courses on all of these subjects, including What-If Analysis that offer professional certification after completing the course and passing an associated exam.
Prior to this latest workshop, Abhisam had recently conducted several workshops in India, including one on HAZOP Study at Lote (near Chiplun in India) at the Gharda Chemicals Ltd manufacturing site and another one On Functional Safety , SIL and SIS Cybersecurity (Level 1) at Baker Hughes Mumbai office.
Very soon, Abhisam will announce dates for conducting public Instructor led training workshops in India related to Process Safety as well as other areas as given in the table below.
